8 Sustainable Wellness Products I Repurchase

Not every wellness purchase is sustainable, and not every sustainable purchase is good wellness. A practical look at what's actually worth adding — and what to skip.

Glass bottles and jars filled with pink and purple crystals, lavender sprigs, and a green stone on a rustic surface.

I am skeptical of “sustainable wellness” as a marketing phrase. Most of what gets sold under that banner is just more stuff in nicer packaging. So when I talk about sustainable wellness products, I mean a narrow thing: products I genuinely use, that hold up, and that I buy again and again because they earn their place. The repurchase is the proof.

These are the eight I actually keep buying, as a vegan in Michigan who would rather own a few good things than a cabinet full of half-used ones. Some are kinder to the planet through their packaging, some through their refillable or long-lasting design, and all of them have survived the only test that matters to me: I run out, and I buy them again.

Key Takeaways

  • The real test of a sustainable product is whether you actually repurchase it.
  • Refillable, plastic-free, and long-lasting beat single-use, every time.
  • Buying fewer, better things is more sustainable than buying lots of “eco” things.
  • Shopping local refill and bulk options in Michigan cuts packaging further.
  • A product that does not perform is not sustainable, no matter how it is marketed.

1. My Daily Ka’Chava Shake

My morning Ka’Chava shake is the wellness product I repurchase most reliably, because if I skip it I feel off all day. Beyond what it does for my energy and mood, a plant-based shake replaces a stream of packaged, processed breakfast options with one whole-food blend. It is the cornerstone of my morning, and I have bought it more times than I can count.

2. Kitsch Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

Switching to Kitsch shampoo and conditioner bars cut a parade of plastic bottles out of my shower. The bars last a long time, travel well, and work better than I expected them to. This is one of those swaps that quietly removes plastic from your life without asking you to sacrifice anything, which is exactly why it stuck.

3. Weleda Skin Food and Clean Skincare

Menopause did a number on my skin, so the products that actually hydrate it are non-negotiable, and I have settled on a few clean brands I trust. Weleda Skin Food body butter is a repeat buy, and I lean on thoughtful lines like Earth Harbor for the rest. I would rather own a handful of products that work and use them all the way up than chase the next thing.

The most sustainable product is not the one with the greenest label. It is the one you use up, then buy again because it earned it.

4. Essential Oils for DIY Sprays

A small collection of essential oils lets me make my own linen spray and run a calming diffuser blend at night, which means I am not buying aerosol air fresheners or single-use scent products. My bedtime linen spray, marjoram, lavender, cedarwood, and ylang ylang, is something I mix myself. One bottle of oil makes batch after batch, which is both economical and far less wasteful.

5. Reusable Vegan Food Wraps

Reusable, beeswax-free vegan food wraps replaced plastic wrap in my kitchen and have paid for themselves many times over. They wash and reuse for ages and are perfect for covering the half-portions a one-person household always has. A small set has spared me countless rolls of single-use plastic.

6. My Apollo Neuro

The Apollo Neuro is the rare wellness gadget I have actually kept using. It is a small wearable that delivers gentle vibrations to help nudge the nervous system toward calm, and I wear it at night and on tense days. Because it is a durable device I use over and over rather than a consumable, it fits my buy-fewer-better-things philosophy, and it genuinely helps me wind down.

7. Bar Soap and Refillable Cleaners

Bar soaps and refillable cleaning concentrates have steadily replaced the plastic bottles under my sink and in my bathroom. Refills mean I am not buying a brand-new bottle every time something runs low, and in Michigan I can often refill or buy these in bulk at local markets and co-ops. Less plastic, less frequent shopping, same clean home.

8. Glass Storage and a Good Water Bottle

Finally, the least glamorous and most used: glass food storage and one good reusable water bottle. The glass containers have outlasted every plastic set I ever owned, and a single sturdy water bottle has replaced an untold number of disposable ones. These are the quiet, durable basics that make a sustainable routine actually work, day after day.
